Leben

Helmut Feldmann studierte Germanistik und Romanistik an Universitäten in Köln, Genua, Madrid und Lissabon. Er schloss sein Studium mit dem Staatsexamen für Lehramt am Gymnasium ab. Er wurde 1964 an der Universität zu Köln mit der Dissertation Graciliano Ramos. Eine Untersuchung zur Selbstdarstellung in seinem epischen Werk zum Dr. phil. promoviert und habilitierte sich 1969 in Köln über Carlo Gozzi. An der Universität Köln wirkte er ab 1970 als Professor für Romanische Philologe. Er leitete dort auch das Portugiesisch-Brasilianische Institut. Als Gastprofessor war er in Brasilien (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, João Pessoa und Fortaleza) tätig. Feldmann lebte in Pulheim.
